SECI floats bids for soil investigation for project sites in Leh

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a request for proposals to select a firm to conduct soil investigations at prospective 13 GW renewable energy project locations in Leh, Ladakh. The scope of work for the investigation includes mobilising all equipment, providing engineering supervision and technical personnel, skilled and unskilled labour, arranging water for drilling, conducting all field and laboratory investigations, analysing and interpreting test data collected, and preparing a geotechnical report.

According to the notification, the allotted work should be finished within eight months of contract signing. Also, bidders must submit Rs 600,000 as an earnest money deposit. Within 30 days of obtaining the notice to proceed, the successful bidder must present a contract performance security equal to 5 per cent of the contract amount.

Any delay caused by the consultant that extends beyond the projected completion date of the complete work will result in liquidated damages of 0.5 per cent of the contract value per week, up to a maximum of 5 per cent of the contract value. The deadline for proposal submissions is August 7, 2023.

In July 2023, SECI solicited bids to appoint an agency to conduct a geotechnical research and topography assessment for a solar power project at the Mithakari location in South Andaman. The geotechnical investigation will be carried out to give the designer with adequate precise information about the substrata profile and relevant characteristics at the site on which to construct the foundation for the solar power plant and other connected facilities.
