Universal Transformers, an electrical and automation solutions provider based in Indore, has won the engineering, procurement, and construction contract in the West Bengal Power Development Corporation’s (WBPDCL) auction to set up 22.5 MW of grid-connected floating solar projects at the Bakreswar, Santhaldih, and Sagardidhi thermal power plants.
A floating solar project with a capacity of 10 MW will be created at the Bakreswar thermal power plant, while 7.5 MW and 5 MW will be developed at the Santhaldih and Sagardidhi thermal power plants, respectively. The selected bidder will also be responsible for the project’s operation and maintenance (O&M) for the next five years.
In July 2022, WBPDCL issued a tender for a three-year comprehensive O&M contract for 1,089 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems. These projects are located on buildings at the Bandel Thermal Power Station in Hooghly, West Bengal. According to the tender guidelines, bidders must submit Rs 161,000 as earnest money deposit. Selected bidders are required to submit a performance guarantee equivalent to 3 percent of the project cost within 15 days of issuance of work order.
