National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commissioned a solar power plant at the RRTS Depot in Duhai, Ghaziabad. The project will help to generate electricity and save energy and make it a green station. The solar power plant has a capacity of 585 kWp, and solar panels have been put across the depot.
The solar plant is expected to create around 666,000 units of solar energy per year over its predicted lifespan of 25 years. In addition, the plant is predicted to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 615 tonnes per year, for a total reduction of 15,375 tonnes over its lifetime.
The 17-kilometre priority stretch of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS line has been concluded and will be inaugurated soon. Furthermore, the first RRTS corridor alone is expected to reduce traffic congestion by removing more than one lakh vehicles from the highways and to help reduce air pollution by removing more than 2.5 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide from vehicular emissions.
In May 2023, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) requested bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction of two grid-connected ground-mounted solar power projects in Delhi. Under the group or virtual net-metering strategy, the projects include a 4.2 MW solar project in Pitampura for Tata Power and a 5 MW solar project in Moti Nagar for BSES Rajdhani. According to the tender guidelines, the projects must be completed within six months of the work order being issued.
