Bids floated to procure 1.2 GW of solar power in Punjab

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has announced two different tenders to procure 1 GW and 200 MW of solar power from grid-connected photovoltaic projects. According to the tender guidelines, the bidders selected by PSPCL will build solar projects throughout Punjab.

Punjab had installed 1,176.79 MW of total solar capacity as of May 31, 2023, comprising 831.75 MW from ground-mount PV projects, 264.19 MW rooftop, and 80.85 MW off-grid/KUSUM plants.

In May 2023, SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited has issued a request for proposals to produce and supply 140.4 MWp of solar modules for the Pojewal and Rurki Chandpur solar power plants in Nawashahar, Punjab. According to the tender guidelines, the modules must be delivered within four months of the work order being received. Additionally, bidders must submit an earnest money deposit equivalent to the quoted module capacity.

In March 2023, SJVN Green Energy awarded the balance-of-system (BOS) package for a 100 MW (AC) grid-connected solar PV power plant to Pune-based Bharat Vikas Group (BVG). The project is situated in Punjab and it is estimated to cost worth Rs 116.29 billion.
