NLC India Limited is looking for the consultation services of WAPCOS Limited, a public-sector firm under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and aims to develop pumped hydro storage. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed by the two parties to collaborate on pumped storage and hydropower projects. The signing of the MOU with WAPCOS is motivated by the desire to provide collaborative technical services and recommendations for the construction of various pumped storage, reservoir/storage, and run-of-river hydropower projects in India.
WAPCOS Limited is involved in providing engineering consulting services and construction in the water, power, and infrastructure sectors in India and around the world. Pumped storage is one of its areas of expertise.
In May 2023, NLC India Limited announced its plan to appoint a qualified coordinating agency to oversee its 1.4 GW of solar and wind power installations across Tamil Nadu. According to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) Regulations 2019, the potential contractor will be responsible to provide forecasting, scheduling, and deviation resolution mechanism services. The scope of work of the selected agency is applicable to projects including 140 MW of solar power plants in Neyveli, 550 MW of solar in Tirunelveli, 51 MW of wind, and 659 MW of solar in Aruppukottai.
In April 2023, NLC India requested proposals for the development of 200 MW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar projects across India. The project must be completed within 15 months after the award letter’s date. The selected bidder will be responsible for the project’s operation and maintenance for three years. Bidders must submit a bid security of Rs 54.7 million.
