NTPC REL floats tender for cable supply for solar projects in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) issued a request for proposals for an HT power cable supply package for a 1,255 MW solar block at Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat’s Kutch area. According to the tender guidelines, the package includes the manufacture, testing, packing, and shipment of 33 kV grade power cables. Additionally, the cables must be 19/33 kV (E) rated, must have a stranded compact circular aluminium conductor, and have 90 per cent armour coverage. Also, the total cable length required for the project is 835 km. In addition, bidders must submit a ten million dollar earnest money deposit. The bids must be submitted by June 29, 2023

The bidding paperwork will cost Rs 22,500. Bidders must have prior experience manufacturing and supplying at least 400 kilometres of XLPE insulated power cable with a voltage grade of 19/33 kV or higher in one or more orders, as well as at least ten kilometres of flame-retardant low smoke cable, regardless of voltage level.

In March 2023, NTPC REL signed a ‘Term Sheet’ with Greenko ZeroC Private Limited. It intends to supply 1,300 MW round the clock renewable energy power for powering Greenko’s upcoming green ammonia plant at Kakinada, India.

In the same month, NTPC REL floated bids to enlist technical consultants for green ammonia feasibility studies. The scope of work of the project includes feasibility studies to determine the capital, operational, and gestation period requirements for green ammonia projects. Also, it has been anticipated that the consultant will determine the optimal levelised cost of green ammonia.
