Tamil Nadu Newsprint floats bids for rooftop solar projects

Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers (TNPL) has floated bids to install 2.2 MW of grid-connected captive rooftop solar installations across its buildings. The first 1.1 MW system must be installed at TNPL’s Karur paper mill which has an average solar irradiation of 5.60 W per square metre. The second will be established in the Trichy facility which has a solar irradiance of 5.56 W  per square metre on an average. According to the tender guidelines, the project should be finished within 90 days of site clearance. Also, the developer must provide extensive operational and maintenance services for a period of five years.

Additionally, separate metering arrangements must be arranged for each rooftop system, and energy metres must be installed for each building. Any surplus solar power will be transmitted to the nearest LT loads to minimise line losses. The solar modules used for the project must be from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers and have a minimum capacity of 250 Wp. The module efficiency should also be at least 16 per cent. The deadline for bid submission deadline is May 31, 2023.
