BHEL announces its green hydrogen plans

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced its venture in the green hydrogen segment. The company intends to hire a business consultant to help it capitalise on possible prospects in electrolyser production and the green hydrogen value chain. Also, the company intends to appoint a consulting firm with a proven track record and the necessary competence for the scope of work. The scope of work includes strategy and roadmap creation including recommendations on potential partners, business build support in electrolyser manufacturing, and green hydrogen value chain.

In February 2023, BHEL requested bids for the one-year operations and maintenance (O&M) of 12.5 MW of solar projects installed at its Trichy, Tamil Nadu, facility. According to the tender guidelines, the vendor should hire maintenance personnel to perform solar panel cleaning, vegetation removal, outer yard HT maintenance, and transformer oil filtration for a year  for the 5 MW and 7.5 MW solar projects.

Also, in December 2023, BHEL floated bids for the O&M of a 5 MW solar power project at its Haridwar’s heavy electrical equipment plant. According to the tender guidelines, bidders must provide a deposit of Rs 45,175 as an earnest money deposit.
