The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) notified that the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has been accorded with the status of Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
Incorporated in the year 2011, SECI is the primary implementing agency of the MNRE for renewable energy schemes or projects towards fulfilment of India’s international commitments. As of now, SECI has awarded renewable energy project capacities of over 56 GW.
SECI is also active in setting up projects through its own investments as well as for other public sector entities as Project Management Consultant (PMC). SECI enjoys the highest credit rating of ‘AAA’ by Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency (ICRA).
Recently, in March 2023, SECI issued a request for proposals to select vendors to develop up to 5 MW of rooftop and ground-mounted solar power projects. The projects will fall into two categories. First category is for the residential sector on behalf of state implementing agencies. Second category is for government organisations under capital expenditure and renewable energy service company modes.
