Vestas, a Danish wind turbine manufacturer, has received a 1.3GW order from Casa dos Ventos, a Brazilian green projects developer. The wind turbines will be installed at two wind farms: the 756MW Serra do Tigre wind park in Rio Grande do Norte and the 554MW Babilônia Centro project in Bahia. Vestas will supply, install, operate, and maintain 168 V150-4.5MW turbines for the Serra do Tigre project and 123 turbines for the Babilônia Centro project.
The contract represents the Danish company’s largest order to date for onshore projects in Latin America and around the world. While commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, Vestas intends to begin delivering wind turbines in the third quarter of 2024. The contractual scope also includes a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for the turbines.
Earlier this month, Vestas received a 373 MW wind turbine contract from Red Rocket, a South African independent power producer. The company would provide five V162-6.2MW Enventus turbines, 12 V163-4.5MW turbines, and 64 V150-4.5MW wind turbines. The turbines would be installed at the Brandvalley, Rietkloof and Wolf wind parks, which are located in South Africa’s Western and Eastern Capes. Vestas intends to deliver and commission the wind turbines by 2024. Also, the company has a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) agreement for the servicing of the turbines.
