Nextracker, a manufacturer of solar trackers and software, announced the signing of a contract with Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWRE), a company that offers renewable energy EPC and O&M solutions. Nextracker will supply solar trackers to NTPC Renewable Energy Limited’s 1.255 GW solar PV plant in Khavda Renewable Energy Park, Gujarat. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited is constructing this 1.568 GWp Solar PV project in NTPC REL’s Khavda RE Park in Gujarat, which will use Nextracker’s optimised bifacial solar tracker to obtain additional energy.
The adoption of solar trackers in combination with bifacial module technology is on the rise in India as a result of increased tracker design efficiencies. In addition to providing solar tracker technology, Gujarati steel mills will be used to manufacture components. The project is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2024. Reportedly, Nextracker is operating 25 projects throughout India with a total capacity of 5 GW to support the country’s decarbonization goals and contribute to important projects like the National Solar Energy Mission and global initiatives like One Sun, One World, One Grid.
Furthermore, the Khavda project expands Nextracker’s gigawatt-portfolio in India. The firm’s second largest office is in Hyderabad and the Middle East with expertise to support the life cycle of every project. Nextracker has shipped over 70 GW worldwide. SWRE, a global pure-play firm, boasts of a portfolio of 12.9 GWp (including projects commissioned and under various stages of construction).
SWRE also manages an operation and maintenance portfolio of around 7 GWp solar power projects, including for projects constructed by third parties.
