L&T bags transmission project to evacuate solar power from Rajasthan

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its ‘Power Transmission & Distribution Business’ has won engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts in India and abroad. L&T has secured turnkey packages to construct over 365 km of 765kV double-circuit transmission lines. The Rajasthan transmission line segment will make it easier to transport solar energy from the Ramgarh, Fategarh, and Bhadla complexes to various beneficiaries.

The Gujarat connection is part of the network expansion to include the Khavda RE potential zone. The upcoming line will allow power to be transferred from Rajasthan to Gujarat via an already established link during a high renewable energy availability scenario.

In January 2023, L&T signed a MoU with HydrogenPro AS, a company based in Norway, for a joint venture to tap the growing green hydrogen market. Under this agreement, L&T and HydrogenPro will collaborate to establish a joint venture in India to manufacture gigawatt-scale alkaline water electrolysers based on HydrogenPro technology for the Indian market and other select regions.
