The Assam Cabinet has authorised the establishment of 620 MW of renewable energy projects through a joint venture between the Assam Power Generation Corporation (APGCL) and Oil India Limited. Three agri-voltaic projects with a total capacity of 250 MW are included in the projects.
The seven green projects includes 70 MW Sonbeel floating solar project, 100 MW Tezpur agrivoltaic project, 40 MW Golaghat floating solar project, 200 MW Margherita solar project, 50 MW Lower Kopili agrivoltaic project, 60 MW Chandrapur solar project and 100 MW Batadrava agrivoltaic project
Also, the state cabinet sanctioned a proposal to build a 70 MW solar project at Khudigaon in the Dhubri district’s Bilaspara Revenue Circle. The electricity generated will be sold to Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL). The project will be built, owned, and operated using the build, own, and operate model.
In March 2023, Assam’s Directorate of Agriculture floated bids to empanel manufacturers and system integrators for turnkey installation and commissioning of solar water pumping systems and solar tubewells. The successful bidder will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the solar water pumping systems for five years after they are installed.
