MEDA floats bids for 10 MW rooftop solar projects

The Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has floated bids for the installation and commissioning of 10 MW of grid connected rooftop solar systems over government buildings throughout the state using the capital expenditure model. The successful bidder must also operate and maintain the project for a period of five years. As per the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit a security deposit of Rs 200,000 for projects ranging from 1kW to 10kW. The same amount will be required for projects ranging from 10 kW to 100 kW. However, Rs 500,000 will be required for projects ranging from 100 kW to 500 kW.

The tender specifies a maximum capacity of 500 kW for a rooftop solar system. Along with the net metre, net billing, or behind-the-metre arrangement, a solar energy generation metre must be installed. Bidders for the 1 kW to 10 kW category must have installed a total of 10 kW solar systems, including a single project of 5 kW capacity, within the last three years. The bid submission deadline is March 15, 2023.

In February 2023, MSEDCL invited bids for 250 MW of decentralised solar projects under component-A of the state’s Pradhan Mantri-Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) programme. MSEDCL has set a tariff ceiling of Rs 3.30 /kWh. The central government intends to establish 10,000 MW of grid-connected solar power projects with individual project sizes up to 2 MW under Component A of the PM-KUSUM programme.
