Bids floated to establish 100 MW of solar projects in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (HIMURJA) has issued a request for proposals to build 100 MW of grid-connected solar projects in the state. As per the tender document, the project can range between 250 kW to 5 MW. Also, the bidders must submit an application fee of Rs 10,000 for projects up to 1 MW and Rs 100,000 for projects above 1 MW and up to 5 MW.

The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board will purchase the energy generated by the solar projects at the tariff approved by the state Commission and in accordance with the power purchase agreement (PPA). The project must be completed within 12 months of the PPA’s signing. Applications for projects with capacities ranging from 250 kW to 1 MW will be accepted for a total capacity of 30 MW. The total capacity for projects ranging from 1 MW to 5 MW will be 70 MW.

Any independent power producer can submit applications for projects ranging from 1 MW to 5 MW. A total of 2 MW of cumulative capacity will be allotted under the category ranging from 250 kW to 1 MW capacity. A maximum cumulative capacity of 10 MW will be allotted for the category ranging from 1 MW to 5 MW capacity. Bidders must provide documents proving land ownership or a lease agreement with the landowner where they intend to build the solar power project. The bid submission deadline is March 15, 2023.

Recently, in February 2023, SECI floated bids for a 2 MW solar project in Kaza, Himachal Pradesh, as well as a 1 MW battery energy storage system. The scope of work of the project includes design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning, as well as five years of operation and maintenance.
