AGEL bags 350 MW of wind power projects in Sri Lanka

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has bagged the letter of approval for establishing two wind energy projects in northern Sri Lanka. The project locations are Mannar and Ponneryn. The two projects will be developed with a total investment of $442 million.

The wind energy project to be established in Mannar will operate with a capacity of 250 MW. However, the other project in Pooneryn will operate with a capacity of 100 MW.  Both projects are scheduled to be commissioned in a period of two years. These projects are expected to create around 1,500 to 2,000 direct job opportunities.

In December 2022, AGEL completed the construction of a 450 MW hybrid power plant near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The facility is AGEL’s third wind-solar hybrid power plant to be put into operation in the region. The hybrid power plant, which is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, has a solar capacity of 420 MW and a wind capacity of 105 MW.

In the same month, AGEL inaugurated its third wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This hybrid power plant has a combined operational generation capacity of 450 MW. The plant has a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI at Rs 2.67 per kwh. The new hybrid power plant comprises 420 MW of solar and 105 MW of wind plants.
