ABB India has launched its new factory in Nashik that aims to double its capacity for gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). This plant will be responsible for producing primary and secondary GIS. It will provide services to customers in a variety of industries, including power distribution, smart cities, data centres, transportation (metro, railways), tunnels, ports, highways, and other infrastructure developments.
The facility spans across 78,000 square feet and is outfitted with smart and lean manufacturing capabilities. It uses advanced manufacturing robotics to connect people, processes, and assets while also relaying real-time data for increased productivity. This facility has been designed in accordance with the Indian Green Building Council’s standards.
In February 2023, ABB E-mobility announced that it has signed an agreement with four minority investors to raise an additional CHF325 million in funds, in exchange for a total shareholding of approximately 12 percent in the company.
