CEF Group to set up waste-to-biofuel plants in Uttar Pradesh

CEF Group has signed an agreement with the government of Uttar Pradesh to establish multiple waste processing plants in various locations throughout the state. CEF Group will invest Rs 6.5 billion in the establishment of waste processing plants in multiple locations, creating approximately 240 jobs. The plant will address the issue of waste mismanagement while also increasing biofuel production.

The CEF group will turn the municipal solid waste, agricultural waste, industrial waste such as press mud from sugar mills, and other organic wastes into biofuels and allied products. The projects will be implemented in stages, with construction beginning by the end of 2023.

The waste and land will be provided by various municipalities in Uttar Pradesh. Simultaneously, offtake agreements for bio-CNG, organic manure, or city compost produced in CEF waste processing plants will be signed.

In February 2023, Pune Municipal Corporation announced that it will set up a solid waste-to-hydrogen plant. The project will assist the PMC in addressing the waste disposal and will also aid in generating clean power.
