Tata Power to launch a smart energy management programme in Mumbai

Tata Power has ramped up its collaboration with the US-based AutoGrid to roll out a demand response programme for its residential, commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in Mumbai. AutoGrid creates software applications for flexibility management that enables utilities, electricity retailers, renewable energy project developers, and energy service providers to deliver clean, affordable, and reliable energy by managing networked distributed energy resources in real time and at scale.

In Mumbai, Tata Power’s demand response programme aims to engage 55,000 residential and 6,000 large C&I customers who will earn incentives for reducing their load in response to text or email alerts in times of critical need. The collaboration between Tata Power and AutoGrid began in 2021 with Tata Power Delhi Distribution’s residential customers in Delhi. Tata Power significantly expanded the initiative within the Delhi distribution region in 2022 based on the success of this engagement. AutoGrid is now expanding this programme to include all segments across Tata Power’s distribution territories.

In November 2022, Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited partnered with Union Bank of India to assist the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector for undergoing the transition to solar solutions.
