A floating solar project of 2,000 kWp has been inaugurated in Chandigarh at the Water Works in Sector 39. The plant has been commissioned at a cost of Rs 117 million. Additionally, a 500 kWp floating solar power plant over the Dhanas lake was put into service by the state administrator. The Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) has designed and executed the project.
The state administration has established an ambitious target of 75 MWp by August 2024. The CREST has prepared a detailed study report on the feasibility of solar power plants at various sites in order to meet the target.
Recently in October 2022, CREST floated bids to empanel engineering, procurement, and construction companies, manufacturers, suppliers, and system integrators for establishing grid-connected rooftop solar projects. The projects shall have capacities ranging from 1 kW to 500 kW. The scope of work under the project includes design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance for a period of five years. The empanelment will remain valid till March 31, 2023 and it may be extended at the discretion of CREST.
Also, in July 2022, CREST floated a tender for the development of a 2 MW of grid-connected floating solar projects with high power evacuation systems in Chandigarh. The project’s anticipated cost is Rs 115 million. The successful bidders must complete the project within five months of executing the work order and offer full operations and maintenance for a period of 10 years.
