Bids announced for consultants for floating solar in Uttar Pradesh

The TUSCO Limited, a joint venture of the central government-owned hydropower company THDC India Limited and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency has notified bids for a consultant for floating solar power projects on various dam reservoirs in Uttar Pradesh. The consultancy work will be awarded through domestic competitive bidding by TUSCO. The scope of work for the selected party includes preparing a pre-feasibility report and a detailed project report for the development of floating solar power projects on dam reservoirs.

The UP Irrigation Department has entrusted TUSCO Limited for developing six floating solar projects. The floating solar projects will be built on the reservoirs of the Matatila, Dhukwan, Jamani, Arjun Sagar, Ramganga, and Adawa dams in Uttar Pradesh. The bid submission deadline is January 30,2022.

Recently in December 2022, Troop Comforts (TCL), a public sector undertaking, invited bids for the implementation of 1.21 MW grid-connected rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects at various Hindustan Aeronautics locations in Uttar Pradesh. TCL is the Ministry of Defence’s designated agency for the implementation of grid-connected rooftop and small solar power projects. The winning bidders are responsible for evacuating power and establishing the associated transmission system. The tender includes 450 KW in HAL in Kanpur, 260 KW in Lucknow, 350 KW in Korwa, and 150 KW in Naini.

Further, in November 2022, the Uttar Pradesh Solar Policy 2022 was announced by the state government. The policy plans to generate 22 GW of solar power capacity in the state over the next five years. The state aims to achieve this target wherein 14 GW will be generated through solar parks, 4.5 GW through residential rooftop solar projects, 1.5 GW through non-residential rooftop projects, and 2 GW through the PM Kusum Yojana. The state government has a budget outlay of Rs 76.98 billion to achieve these goals.
