NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for development of renewable energy based power projects to tap business opportunities in renewable energy. The MoU intends to supply 400 MW round the clock renewable power to cater to the requirements of HPCL.
This MoU marks the first step for NGEL and HPCL to collaborate and cooperate in the field of development of green energy projects which shall help HPCL in meeting its clean energy commitments.
Recently in December 2022, NTPC Limited signed a non-binding MoU with Tecnimont Private Limited, Indian subsidiary of Italy-based, Maire Tecnimont Group. The MoU intends to jointly evaluate and explore the possibility of developing a commercial-scale green methanol production facility at an NTPC project in India.
Also, in the same month, NTPC Limited and GE Power India Limited signed the MoU to reduce carbon intensity from NTPC’s coal fired units The MoU seeks to demonstrate technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of NTPC’s existing coal fired power plants. This MOU aims at partnering on research, development and engineering of technologies that will enable NTPC to reduce the amount of coal fired in their units and gradually replace it by co-firing ‘alternate fuel’ in boilers.
