TPREL bags LoA to establish 255 MW wind-solar hybrid project

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) announced that it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Tata Power Delhi Distribution (DDL) for the development of a 255 MW wind-solar hybrid power project in Karnataka. According to the company, the power generated by the project will be supplied to Tata Power-DDL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The project will be completed within 24 months of the execution date of the PPA. The letter was won in an e-reverse auction. This association will also encourage other distribution companies in the country to increase the share of sustainable energy in their overall energy mix and contribute to the country’s net zero emission target. With this project, Tata Power Renewable’s total renewables capacity has reached 6,048 MW, with 3,884 MW installed and 2,164 MW in various stages of implementation.

Recently in December 2022, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited’s (TPDDL) auction for 255 MW of wind-solar hybrid power projects was won by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL). The price quoted by the company is Rs 3 per kWh.

Also, in November 2022, TPREL received a LoA from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) to set up a 150 MW solar project at Solapur, Maharashtra. The LoA was bagged through a tariff-based competitive bidding followed by an e-reverse auction.
