AAI floats bids for 8 MW solar project in Hubballi airport

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has notified a tender for establishing an 8 MW solar power project in Hubballi Airport to feed all airports in Karnataka. The project is expected to cost Rs 4.15 million to complete and has a completion time of 120 days, accounting for 30 days for rains. The bid submission deadline is January 4, 2023.

Technical bids will be accepted on January 6,2023 and financial bids will be accepted on January 12,2023. As per the tender guidelines, consortium or joint venture companies are not permitted. Furthermore, purchase preference will be given to Central Public Sector Undertakings in accordance with the government directive in effect on the date of acceptance.

In June 2022, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) signed a long-term power purchase agreement with a Himachal Pradesh-based hydropower producing company for the supply of hydroelectricity till 2036.Moreover, in the same month, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport began a pilot project to develop a wind-solar hybrid system to generate renewable energy for captive usage.
