PSERC notifies its draft rules for intra-state open access

The draft PSERC ‘Terms and Conditions for Intra-State Open Access (10th Amendment) Regulations, 2022’ have been notified by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC). The provisions notified by the Ministry of Power have been incorporated into the state’s regulations and includes several provisions to promote renewable open access in the state and boost renewables adoption in the commercial and industrial sectors.

In case of an agreement between open access customer and the distribution company (discom) for standby power, the consumer must pay Rs 35 kVA per month in commitment charges on the capacity (in kVA).

Power banking will be permitted throughout the year in accordance with the terms approved by the Commission from time to time, subject to the payment of banking charges to compensate the DISCOM for an additional cost on this account.
