Adani Green Energy (AGEL), the renewables division of India’s Adani Group, has completed the construction of a 450 MW hybrid power plant near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The facility is AGEL’s third wind-solar hybrid power plant to be put into operation in the region. The hybrid power plant, which is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, has a solar capacity of 420 MW and a wind capacity of 105 MW.
The project has already signed 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, as according AGEL (SECI). The project has increased the total operating hybrid power production capacity of Adani Green Energy to 1.4 GW. Additionally, it has made AGEL the largest developer of wind-solar hybrid power farms in the world. In addition, AGEL’s overall operating generation capacity is increased by the 450 MW facility to 7.17 GW. Adani Solar Energy Jaisalmer One Private, a subsidiary of AGEL, is the company housing the power plant.
In March 2022, the Adani Group signed a MoU with the Sri Lankan government to develop two large-scale renewable energy projects in the neighbouring country. Although neither the Adani Group nor the Sri Lankan government confirmed the two projects, it was reported that they would be situated in Mannar and Pooneryn in the Northern Province.
