PMC floats bids for EV charging stations

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is seeking proposals for the installation, operation, and maintenance of public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in designated locations throughout Pune. PMC has released a list of 92 locations for charging stations at PMC-owned parking facilities, gardens, hospitals, and auditoriums. The charging stations will be built on a public-private partnership model.

According to the tender guidelines, interested bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 500,000 and a tender fee of Rs 20,000. Bidders must also submit a performance security of Rs 2.5 million. Selected bidders must commence the project within fourteen days of signing the contract and commission them within six months. The bid submission deadline is December 13, 2022.

In August 2022, Gensol Engineering announced plans to enter the EV market with segments in personal mobility and cargo EVs. The company intends to open its EV manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune with a monthly capacity of producing 1,200 units.
