Uttar Pradesh Solar Policy 2022 aims for 22 GW in next five years

The Uttar Pradesh Solar Policy 2022 has been announced by the state government. The policy plans to generate 22 GW of solar power capacity in the state over the next five years. The state aims to achieve this target wherein 14 GW will be generated through solar parks, 4.5 GW through residential rooftop solar projects, 1.5 GW through non-residential rooftop projects, and 2 GW through the PM Kusum Yojana. The state government has a budget outlay of Rs 76.98 billion to achieve these goals. 

In addition to the central financial assistance provided by the Central Government, the state government will provide a maximum grant of Rs 30,000 at the rate of Rs 15,000 per kW for this purpose. 

The provision of net metering will also be available on solar rooftop system installations across residential sectors, government buildings, and all types of government or non-government educational institutions. According to the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, net billing will be available soon for solar rooftop systems installed on other types of non-residential buildings.
