UNEP collaborates with Maharashtra government for Majhi Vasundhara campaign

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to support its ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ campaign. The campaign focuses on the energy and environmental aspects of sustainable development. Further, it aims to provide citizens with information about the effects of climate change and environmental issues and encourages them to make a conscious effort to improve the environment.

Through UNEP’s Tide Turner Challenge, UNEP will assist the state in educating and mobilising youth on plastic pollution and marine litter across all educational institutes in Maharashtra. As per the terms of the agreement, UNEP will also assist the Maharashtra government with various clean energy initiatives as well as efforts to develop a carbon neutral development strategy in accordance with the vision of the Indian government.

Recently in October 2022, EKI Energy Services, a carbon credits developer partnered with First Source Energy India and its promoter and promoter group to launch a climate edtech and climate finance marketplace. The joint venture formed by both the companies will be named as ClimaCool Projects & EduTech Limited.
