SJVN wins award for 83 MW floating solar project in Madhya Pradesh

SJVN Limited announced that it has been awarded a contract to establish a 83 MW floating solar project in Madhya Pradesh. In an e-reverse auction organised by the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), the project was secured at a tariff of Rs 3.70 per unit on a build, own, and operate basis. The floating solar project will cost approximately Rs 5.85 billion to develop and will be established at a floating solar park situated in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh.

RUMSL and SJVN will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Following commissioning of the project, it is expected to save approximately 216,074 tonnes of carbon dioxide over a period of next 25 years. The project must be completed within 21 months of the signing of the PPA.

Recently in October 2022, SJVN won the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company’s auction to build a 105 MW grid-connected floating solar project at Erai Dam solar park in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district. The order was won at a tariff of Rs 3.93 per kWh. The tender was floated in June 2022.
