HRIDC and REMCL collaborate for renewable energy projects

The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation  (HRIDC) and Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) have signed an agreement to develop renewable energy projects in the state. Both the companies will collaborate to explore renewable energy projects in the areas of wind, solar, and hybrid segments related to the Indian Railways net-zero carbon emission targets.

In August 2022, MoU was signed between The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and REMCL for development of green projects of the Indian Railways. Under the MoU, the two organisations intend to work collaboratively on green initiatives, performance audit, energy efficiency projects, and research work related to railway net-zero targets.

In July 2022, The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) authorised Haryana Power Purchase Center (HPPC) to purchase 150 MW of renewable energy from the Solar Energy Corporation of India with a guaranteed peak power supply. In the absence of a drafted power purchase agreement between the parties, it specified that the penalty payable to the HPCC for any non-supply or restriction in supplying power during the agreed-upon peak hours must be 100 percent of the tariff agreed upon by the parties.
