ANIL commissions 200 metres tall wind turbine generator in Gujarat

Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) reported the installation of India’s largest wind turbine generator in Mundra, Gujarat. The wind turbine stands 200 metres tall and can generate about 5.2 MW of electricity and can be used to power approximately 4,000 homes. According to the company’s statement, the turbine is taller than the world’s tallest statue, Statue of Unity, that has a height of 182 metres. At about 78 metres, the turbine’s blades are the longest in the country.

It has a rotor diameter of 160 metres. The wind turbine generator’s hub height is 120 metres. It can operate at wind speeds as low as 3 metres per second (mps) and as high as 20 mps, with an optimum power output at around 12 mps. Mundra Windtech Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited installed the turbine.

Recently in October 2022, Inox Wind announced that Inox Green Energy Services Limited has sold its full equity stake in three special purpose vehicles to Adani Green Energy. IGESL will provide these projects with long-term operations and maintenance services.
