BPCL floats consultancy tender for 6.9 MW floating solar projects in Kochi

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has issued a tender to recruit consultancy services for the installation of 6.9 MW of floating solar power projects in Kochi’s rainwater harvesting pond and shore tank farm. As per the tender guidelines, the consultant will be in charge of evaluating two floating solar power projects.

The first project will have a capacity of approximately 3.2 MWac / 4.6 MWdc in a rainwater harvesting pond inside the Kochi Refinery. The power produced through this project will be discharged through Kochi Refinery’s internal electrical grid for internal consumption with no export to the external grid.

The second floating solar project with a capacity of 3.7 MWac / 5.2 MWdc will be installed within the Kochi Refinery shore tank farm. The electricity produced will be deployed for captive consumption utilising the Kerala State Electricity Board’s banking facility.

As per tender guidelines, bidders must submit Rs 100,000 as an earnest money deposit. The project has to be finished within 9.5 months of the work order’s issuance date. BPCL has already conducted a feasibility study at these locations to determine the viability of installing floating solar projects in these water bodies. Before preparing design specifications, estimates, and bidding documents, the selected consultant must conduct a site visit and preliminary assessment to determine the capacity and parameters of the floating solar projects. The deadline for bid submission is November 22, 2022.
