Greenko and Keppel collaborate for opportunities in green ammonia and renewables

Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Limited (Keppel Infrastructure) and Greenko Group, through their subsidiaries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore green ammonia and renewable energy opportunities to meet the growing demand for low carbon energy across India, Singapore as well as on a global level.

The MoU intends to explore the feasibility of jointly developing a production facility which can produce at least 250,000 tonnes of green ammonia on an annual basis. In addition, Keppel Infrastructure and Greenko will jointly identify and evaluate a portfolio of solar and wind energy projects up to an installed capacity of approximately 1.3 GW. This will be complemented by a pumped hydro-storage project to power the green ammonia production facility.

The collaboration between Keppel Infrastructure and Greenko is set to support India’s goal to manufacture five million tonnes of green hydrogen per annum by 2030 and become a production and export hub for the fuel.

Recently in October 2022, Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) collaborated with the Greenko Group to supply 1,000 MW of green power. In accordance with the MoU, Greenko will be providing clean energy needed for JSP’s steel-making operations at Angul, Odisha.
