Greenko and JSP collaborate for clean energy at Odisha facility

Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) has collaborated with the Greenko Group to supply 1,000 MW of green power. In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Greenko will be providing clean energy needed for JSP’s steel-making operations at Angul, Odisha.

The planned 1,000 MW carbon-free energy is intended to meet Angul’s existing and incremental power demand. Greenko Group’s Off Stream Closed Loop Pumped Storage Project (OCPSP) in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will be providing with energy storage capacity.

Recently in September 2022, Posco Holdings signed a MoU with Greenko ZeroC, a subsidiary of Greenko Group and John Cockerill. The partnership intended to supply green hydrogen/ammonia to Posco holdings and joint production and export of green hydrogen/ammonia in export oriented special economic zones. The partnership will also explore opportunities in production of renewable energy in India and use of steel materials from Posco in the development of infrastructure for potential projects.

Also in August 2022, Greenko Group and Hindalco Industries agreed to establish a green energy project in Odisha with a capacity of 375 MW to 400 MW. Both companies have entered into a commercial agreement to establish a renewable energy project to supply 100 MW of carbon free power around the clock. The project will include wind and solar capacity and will provide power to Hindalco’s aluminium smelter in Odisha.
