PEDA floats bids for 4.5 MW rooftop solar systems

The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has requested bids for the installation and commissioning of grid-connected rooftop solar systems with a total capacity of 4.5 MW across various locations in the state using the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model. The successful bidder will also be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the project for the next 25 years. The solar modules used in the project must be from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

According to the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit an earnest money deposit worth Rs 900,000 per MW of the quoted capacity. Also, the successful bidder must provide 1 million per MW as a performance security within 15 days of the allocation letter’s issuance. The bidders should submit bids for a minimum aggregate capacity of 2 MW and a maximum aggregate capacity of 5 MW. Bids with less than 2,000 kW capacity will be rejected. The bid submission deadline is October 31, 2022.

Recently in September 2022, the Punjab government decided to solarise one lakh of the state’s existing electric agriculture tube-wells. This innovative idea will save approximately Rs 2 billion per year in power subsidies while also helping to conserve natural resources.
