MoRTH notifies amendments in Central Motor Vehicles Rules

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has notified a draft of certain rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The vehicles or engines fuelled up with biodiesel blends up to 7 per cent shall be tested with reference diesel (B7) and vehicles fuelled with biodiesel blends above 7 per cent will be tested with respective blends.

The test applicability requirements for dual fuel engines are dependent on the Gas Energy Ratio (GER) measured over the hot part of the WHTC test-cycle. The GER classification shall be applicable as per the AIS 137 and as amended from time to time. Only nitrogen oxide emissions shall be determined when the vehicle is running on Hydrogen.
