Goldi Solar to expand manufacturing capacity to 6 GW with Rs 50 billion investment

Goldi Solar, headquartered in Gujarat plans to invest Rs 50 billion by the year 2025 to expand its module manufacturing capacity to 6 GW. The company’s expansion will be focused on auxiliary production including aluminium frames, junction boxes, backsheet. Also, the company plans to start establishing cell manufacturing units during the first quarter of 2023 as part of its investment strategy. Following the start of cell manufacturing, the capacity of cell manufacturing will be increased to 5 GW.

The combined module manufacturing capacity of its Gujarat plants in Pipodara and Navsari is currently 2.5 GW. The company plans to hire 25 per cent of its workforce from the tribal communities surrounding its proposed manufacturing facility. It will also run a three-month certification programme at a skill development centre. 

Recently, in August 2022, Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited requested bids for the turnkey installation of a 100 MW automatic solar module manufacturing line. The scope of work includes installation of the module manufacturing line that includes supply, layout design, installation, commissioning, integration, equipment testing, warranty, Bureau of Indian Standards certification, and training for the line operation and maintenance. The installation and commissioning of the line must be concluded within seven months of the date of purchase order.
