Amp Energy India has entered into a power purchase agreement with Amazon to sell renewable energy generated by a 100 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. The plant is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year 2023. It will be located at Bhadla, Rajasthan where Amp Energy is also developing 1 GW of utility-scale projects.
This solar plant will help to minimise 113,645 MT of harmful carbon emissions released by the conventional power plants. This project also contributes to the government’s Digital India initiative which aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society powered by renewable energy.
Amazon is announcing its first three large-scale projects in India in the Asia-Pacific region. All three are solar projects in Rajasthan with a total capacity of 420 MW. The company is rapidly expanding in India and these initial investments are critical to lowering the country’s carbon footprint. The company now has 57 renewable energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
