Ilmatar to construct 550 MW solar power park in Sweden

Ilmatar Solar, a subsidiary of the Finnish energy company Ilmatar, has announced plans to build a 550 MW solar park in Sweden. Reportedly, the project will be constructed in the municipality of Motala, Stergötland. Once completed, it will produce enough energy to power 32,000 local homes. To build the facility, Vinnergi, a consulting firm, and Ilmatar Solar inked a contract. Additionally, the landowner and the two partners have a lease agreement in place.

Vinnergi intends to assist the development of renewable project developers and address the growing demands for solar energy in Sweden and across the European Union. The company also works on internal networks and network stations, as well as selecting locations for renewable energy projects, securing the necessary permits, and connecting them to the electricity network.

In June 2022, Renewable Power Capital signed a grid connection agreement with E.ON Energy Distribution for four wind farms in Sweden’s Sollefte and Kramfors municipalities. The agreement would deliver up to 561 MW of clean energy to regional and national systems from four wind facilities. The Sörlidberget wind farm, with a capacity of 132 MW, and the Knäsjöberget wind project, with a capacity of 92.4 MW, are two of the four wind farms included in the agreement.
