SJVN to develop 5 GW renewable energy projects

SJVN Limited, a state-owned company has expressed interest in developing 5,000 MW of renewable energy projects in Punjab. As per a recent statement from the company, it intends to develop these renewable energy projects across the state by including solar projects, canal top solar projects, and floating solar projects, through the formation of joint ventures and memorandums of understanding.

Recently in August 2022, SJVN Limited announced an agreement with Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited. The association seeks to build a 220 KV direct current single zebra transmission line for the 210 MW Luhri hydroelectric project stage-1. The hydroelectric project spans across the Himachal Pradesh districts of Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu.

Further, in July 2022, the company secured an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to commission two solar projects in Uttar Pradesh. The two EPC contracts are expected to cost Rs 6.91 billion including execution of the solar project as well as two years of operation and maintenance. SJVN secured an EPC contract with Solarworld Energy Solutions to establish a 75 MW solar project in Gurah, Jalaun district, and a 50 MW project in Gujrai, Kanpur district.
