Greenko and Posco to collaborate for green hydrogen

Korean steelmaker Posco Holdings has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Greenko ZeroC, a subsidiary of Greenko Group and John Cockerill. The partnership intends to supply green hydrogen/ammonia to Posco holdings and joint production and export of green hydrogen/ammonia in export oriented special economic zones. The partnership will also explore opportunities in production of renewable energy in India and use of steel materials from Posco in the development of infrastructure for potential projects.

In a joint statement, both the companies said that this MoU will contribute towards the mission of making India a green hydrogen hub. Under the MoU, both the companies will carry out a feasibility study on green hydrogen production after discovering a proper site by the end of year 2022.

Recently in August 2022, Greenko Group and Hindalco Industries, a manufacturer of aluminium, agreed to establish a green energy project in Odisha with a capacity of 375 MW to 400 MW. Both companies have entered into a commercial agreement to establish a renewable energy project to supply 100 MW of carbon free power around the clock.
