
NLC India Ltd, a Navratna public sector enterprise (NLCIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). The MoU intends to expand its operations in the north-east region of India. NLCIL, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal, and APDCL, wholly owned by the Government of Assam, have decided to form a joint venture company with 51 percent equity participation by NLCIL and remaining by APDCL.
This includes establishing a 1,000 MW solar power project in the state of Assam to empower citizens with required energy while maintaining ecology with green energy sources. This initiative will help Assam grow by providing job opportunities, technical know-how, and overall upliftment of the state. The project is critical to meeting the state of Assam’s energy needs.
Recently in July 2022, NLC India floated bids to establish 500 MW of interstate transmission system -connected solar power projects across the country. The scope of work included obtaining approval for connectivity and long-term access, procuring land, designing, engineering, site development, manufacturing, inspection at supplier’s works, supply, insurance, transport, erection, and inspection of the total awarded capacity as well as the affiliated evacuation framework up to the delivery point at the ISTS/CTU substation.
