The results of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company’s (MSEDCL) auction to purchase power from 500 MW of grid-connected intrastate solar projects (Phase-VII) are announced. SJVN Green Energy, Juniper Green Energy, Tata Power Renewable Energy, Sukhbir Agro Energy, and Avaada Energy were declared as the winners of this auction. SJVN and Juniper secured capacities of 200 MW and 75 MW at quotes of Rs 2.90 /kWh respectively. Tata Power and Sukhbir Agro are alloted capacity of 150 MW and 50 MW, respectively wherein each quoted Rs 2.91/kWh. For Avaada that quoted for Rs 2.91/kWh for 300 MW got allotted with only 25 MW under the bucket filling method.
The tender was floated in June 2022 for procuring 500 MW of solar power on a long term basis from grid-connected intrastate projects. According to the tender guidelines, MSEDCL will be entering into a power purchase agreement with the shortlisted bidders selected for 25 years from the planned date of commercial operation, or for 25 years from the date the PPA was executed in the case of existing solar power projects.
Recently in August 2022, MSEDCL floated bids for long-term contracts to purchase power from 500 MW interstate or intrastate grid-connected solar power projects. According to tender guidelines, bidders must provide an earnest money deposit of Rs 472,000 per MW of quoted capacity.
