TPGEL commissions hybrid power plant in Rajasthan

Tata Power Green Energy Limited (TPGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, commissions 225 MW hybrid power project in Rajasthan. The power generated through this project will be further distributed to Tata Power, Mumbai Distribution (TPC-D, Mumbai). This will be executed under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) which shall be applicable for a period of 25 years.

The project is launched with an aim to supply green power to (TPC-D, Mumbai) to meet its Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO). Through this project, TPC-D Mumbai’s non-carbon power supply’s share will increase to 38 percent. The established plant will help in offsetting approximately 700 million kg of carbon dioxide per year.

The project was allocated to TPGEL wherein Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, an EPC division of Tata Power completed the solar aspect of the project. The project made use of 5,79,488 modules and 103 individual wind energy generators of varying ratings from the company’s existing wind assets.The project is completed on a plot spanning over 1,200 acres in Noorsar, Rajasthan.
