
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has notified regarding extension of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme till March 31, 2026. The extension has been made considering targets under the three components to be unchanged and allowing inter-se transfer of quantities across Components- B and Components-C. Alongwith extension of the scheme, few amendments in the scheme are also highlighted.
The amendments states central finance assistance (CFA) will be available for pump capacity up to 15 HP to individual farmers under Components- B and Component-C. This CFA shall be eligible in the north eastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Also, the CFA for pump capacity upto 15 HP will be limited to 10 percent of total installations. Further, conditions of the domestic content requirement for solar cells have been waived off for the feeder level solarisation under the Components-C for the projects awarded by implementing agency on or before June 20,2023. Lastly, a budget allocation of Rs 100 billion has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
The PM-KUSUM scheme was launched in the year 2019 with the objective of adding solar and other renewable capacity of 25,750 MW by 2022.
