Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited has invited bids for the setting up of 300 MW of floating solar projects at Madhya Pradesh’s Omkareshwar reservoir. RUMSL plans to deploy the Omkareshwar floating solar park as six autonomous units, each with 100 MW of grid-connected floating solar projects. The 600 MW capacity is being constructed in two phases: Phase I and Phase II. This tender is issued for the establishment of the second phase under which three 100 MW floating solar projects will be developed.
In each category, the minimum quantity to be quoted by the bidder will be 90 MW. According to the terms of the power purchase agreement, the energy generated by the projects will be acquired by the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company.
Recently, NTPC Limited established a 100 MW floating solar power plant at Ramagundam, Peddapalli district in Telangana. The plant has been completely commissioned with the commercial operation of the final capacity of 20 MW. The entire project spans over 500 acres.
