Azure Power’s 90 MW solar facility inaugurated in Assam

Azure Power’s 90 MW solar power facility has been inaugurated by the chief minister of Assam. With this project, Azure Power’s operating capacity in India now exceeds 2.9 GW. It is the largest project in the state of Assam that was launched in a dedicated ceremony co-hosted by Azure Power and Assam Power Distribution Co. Ltd (APDCL).

The project spans across four districts of Udalguri, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Cachar. Azure completed the project in stages, with the final 25 MW portion of the project recently coming online in Cachar.

Under a long-term 25-year power purchase agreement, the developer will supply the plant’s power to APDCL. The initiative will assist to establish a self-sustaining ecosystem by providing local population with jobs, skill development, and revenue prospects.

Recently in July 2022, Azure Power announced that it has implemented a module supply agreement with Premier Energies Group for the supply of solar cells and modules for the supply of modules up to 600 MW per year for the next four years. Azure has also agreed to invest Rs 1,000 million in the Premier Group.
