GUVNL issues tender to procure 1.5 GW of solar power

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has issued a competitive bidding tender to procure upto 1.5 GW of solar power from grid-connected PV projects. Out of the total 1.5 GW capacity, 750 MW will be allocated through a greenshoe option. The minimum capacity of the project will be 25 MW. The selected bidders can enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with GUVNL. The power will be delivered by the successful developer’s proposed or under-construction PV projects.

These bidders will be selected to develop solar power plants as well as the electrical network up to the distribution point. They can connect at either a state transmission utility or a central transmission utility sub-station. Solar projects can also be constructed in a currently operational wind farm which is already connected to a grid. This is permitted assuming that spare capacity for renewable energy integration is available at the corresponding substation.

Recently in July 2022, GUVNL’s auction to purchase power from 500 MW of grid-connected wind power projects (Phase-III) has been completed. The declared winners are Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL), Rajpur Renewables (EDF Renewables), Juniper Green Energy, Solarcraft Power India 3 (Blupine Energy), TEQ Green Power XII (O2 Power), ACME Pokhran Solar, and Project Twelve Renewable Power (Ayana Renewable Power).
