EPC contract signed by SJVN Ltd for solar projects in Uttar Pradesh

SJVN Limited, an association between Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh, has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to commission two solar projects in Uttar Pradesh. The two EPC contracts are expected to cost Rs 6.91 billion including execution of solar project as well as two years of operation and maintenance. SJVN secured an EPC contract with Solarworld Energy Solutions to establish a 75 MW solar project in Gurah, Jalaun district, and a 50 MW project in Gujrai, Kanpur district.

For these projects, SJVN quoted a price of Rs 2.98 per kWh. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation will purchase the power generated by the two plants for a period of 25 years. The solar installation in Gurah will generate 159 MU of energy per year, with a capacity utilisation rating of 24.22 percent. The contract value for the 75 MW Solar Project is Rs. 4.1075 billion, while the contract value for the 50 MW Solar Project is Rs. 2.8 billion.

In May 2022, Tata Power Solar received EPC order of 1 GW from SJVN Limited for around Rs 55 billion. The project will be built under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s CPSU scheme and will take 24 months to complete. The project will cover over 5,000 acres of land in Rajasthan and intends to reduce around 2,287,128 kg of carbon emissions.
